Chef de Rang / Restaurant Supervisor

We have two busy restaurants, The Sand Brasserie and The Terrace, together with conference facilities for up to 200.  In addition, we offer 24 hour room service to our 104 bedrooms and lounge service throughout the day.  Weddings are a very important part of our business, and we strive to ensure that each event runs smoothly and successfully throughout.

Our food and beverage outlets are important areas of the business, acting as a showcase for residents and non residents alike and generating a large portion of the overall turnover.  We take great pride in our high standards of service and our warm and genuine welcome from the whole team.

You will be an experienced food and beverage professional looking to move into a supervisory role.  You will be very customer focussed and have great attention to detail.

You will assist in the day to day running of our busy food and beverage outlets, ensuring the efficient service of food and drink throughout the day. You will be involved in the effective organisation of the team, and also in their training and development to ensure that standards and procedures are maintained at a consistently high level.

Breakfast Supervisor

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so it is essential we find the right person to make sure that our breakfast service runs efficiently, effectively and our guests start the day on the right note.

Are you a morning person; bright and cheery and able to supervise our busy breakfast service?  You will be responsible for co-ordinating the waiting team, making sure the service is friendly and efficient, the quality of food is consistently good and that the breakfast area is clean and well presented at all times.

You will be warm and welcoming with great customer care skills and attention to detail.  You will be involved in the training and development of the team to ensure they consistently deliver good service. 

You will be expected to oversee and assist in the preparation of the breakfast area for evening service, or, where necessary, for private lunches, events and weddings. The right candidate will also be involved in running lunchtime events where appropriate.

Night Porter

Are you a reliable and enthusiastic individual with a keen desire to provide a high standard of customer care?  Are you looking for a career in one of Cornwall's landmark hotels where you will be working as a key member of our professional team looking after the welfare and comfort of our guests over night?

We are looking for a Night Porter to undertake a wide range of tasks including checking guests in and out, assisting with luggage, preparing and serving drinks and light meals, preparation of meeting rooms, cleaning of public areas and ensuring the general security of the hotel.

Whilst experience of a similar role would be an advantage, it is not essential as you will receive excellent training, with the possibility of working towards an NVQ or equivalent qualificiation. You will also have access to a wide range of staff benefits such as free meals on duty, a share of tips and use of the hotel facilities such as spa, pool and tennis.  You will also be entitiled to join the Staff Dining scheme and eligible for the Employee of the Month award.

You will be an excellent time keeper, with the ability to prioritise and carry out a wide variety of tasks quickly and accurately.  You will be expected to use your initiative in what can be a pressurised environment whilst maintaining excellent standards of customer care at all times.

This is a full time, year round permanent position with approximately 45 hours over a 5 day week to include weekends.  Shifts start at 10.30pm and finish at 8am with two days off per week and four weeks paid holiday.

Sous Chef and Junior Sous Chef
This is a great opportunity for a talented and hard working Sous Chef and Junior Sous Chef to join a kitchen team striving to achieve 2 rosettes and make The Headland a food destination.

The role involves using fresh produce to create innovative dishes.
You will be working as part of a team catering for two restaurants with busy periods toping 100 plus covers, and a wide range of conference and banqueting facilities.  You will have excellent preparation and presentation skills, and a vast culinary knowledge in both modern and traditional methods. You will be able to assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the kitchens and to assist in sustaining a profitable business and be in control of maintaining and improving food standards.
As Sous chef you will answer directly to the Head chef and liase with your fellow Sous Chef who will be implementing the highest of standards with hygiene practices and pastry. You will be responsible for smooth running of the kitchen whilst producing excellent cuisine for the Brasserie and Terrace.

The ideal candidate will be a real foodie and a good all rounder with strong leadership and organisational skills and come from a similar or larger style 4 or 5 star hotel, have 2 or 3 rosette experience, be a strong people manager and have exceptionally high standards.

The ability to work under pressure and keep a calm manner is essential for this role as is adhering to the companies highest standards at all times as you will be leading by example.
